Lean Manufacturing: The Basics — Why It Matters to You?

Overview

Most manufacturing businesses don’t struggle because people aren’t trying. They struggle because work gets delayed, jobs need redoing, priorities keep changing, and the day stops flowing.

Lean is a practical way to reduce that friction and help work move more smoothly. In this one-hour session, we’ll explain Lean in plain English and show why it matters for smaller manufacturers as much as larger ones.

🎓 What You’ll Walk Away With

In one hour, you’ll get:

  • A plain-English explanation of what Lean is.
  • A simple way to spot waste in your own operation.
  • A clearer view of why Lean is relevant to SME manufacturers.
  • Three practical actions you can take straight away.

💡 Who this is for

This session is for owners, managers, team leaders, and manufacturing staff who want to understand Lean without jargon or prior knowledge. If you’ve heard the term but never had it explained clearly, this session is for you.

≠ Who it’s probably not for

If you already use Lean day to day, or have been through formal Lean training, this webinar may cover familiar ground.

Operational Excellence | Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

Hi, I’m Abdul. I’m a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with more than 30 years spent hands-on across automotive, aerospace and healthcare — helping teams cut waste, ease the daily grind, and get more done with the resources you currently have available.

I’ve built a reputation for hands-on delivery of successful and sustainable change — including with suppliers across the automotive and aerospace supply chains, helping them improve quality, cost and delivery. I’ve spent those years on the shop floor, alongside the people doing the actual work, from operators to site leaders — so I know how it feels when the day runs away from you, when the same problems keep coming back, and when there’s never quite enough time to fix them properly.

Along the way I’ve helped find real, hard savings — including £196,000 on a single shop floor, and improvement programmes worth anywhere from £3m to £86m.

My aim for this hour is simple: to spark enough curiosity about Lean that you’ll want to go and explore it for yourself.
